The News

Hi Everyone,

Haven't been on in a while--lots of stuff to update but probably won't get to it for some time. The past few weeks have been . . . weird.

First off, we're scheduling a family reunion for Labor Day weekend 2010--it's in WA! I've never been, so I'm looking forward to some exploring while we're out there and meeting my dad's side of the family. My uncle (mom's bro) and his family also live in the area, so it'll be a great time to catch up with them, too--I haven't seen my cousins in about 15 (???) years.

Then, there's 2009 holiday coordination happening--Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas travels, etc. And somewhere in there is Halloween!

Then, my computer finally decided to die--4 months in the making--and of course, like so many aspects of my life, it does it in a way that is completely backwards from normal. Hard drive and video card are all intact and superfine, but the power supply and motherboard bit it. Everything on the harddrive is partioned out across drives in a "loaner" computer until I get a new computer . . . but I can't get to any of it! So, have to take care of that sometime. Sims withdrawal!! No photos, no Relay for Life updates, nothing doing until I get my butt back over to the computer place and have Christie show me what to do---I'll have the loaner until Nov when I'll upgrade to a laptop with Windows 7 OS.

BUT with the computer down (I'm on the work laptop right now) I finally got back to the walls in the apartment and finished taking down the wallpaper on that last segment of wall and am (this week) making a tracing of the victorian paper border design so I can duplicate it on a larger scale. After that, deconstructing all that organizing work I did a few weeks ago (for which I have photos yet to post) and clearing the walls around the rest of the room.

Annie went in two weeks ago for a hair cut--had to shave her down to the skin because of some nasty mats I couldn't work out--and so she's practically bald except for her head. She's a bobble-head kitty.

And I've been doing some knitting and delving into new TV series (on DVD)--currently enjoying Breaking Bad--highly recommend it.

And the newest news: Annie--my non-human family--is really sick. She has a history of bladder infections, and I had to rush her into the vets on Sat because she was peeing blood--the infection came in very fast. They took blood and sent it away and today her vet called to say that she has "significant kidney disease" . . .

. . . and for that I have no words.
