I've been shopping for a small-scale sofa for my new digs about 2 years now . . . it's hard to find something that's my style, is 70" or less in width, and can fit through a doorway 29" wide.
And, I'll admit, "my style" is some kind of blend of 1950's streamlined form meets 1960's mod meets asian love affair with natural elements meets bombay bohemian details. It CAN be a bit tricky to find just the right thing . . . lol!
Go on, you try to find something!!
So winter '07 I found the perfect sofa style, it was in my price range (with a few months savings), and I found out they would be issuing a small-scale version in Feb '08 that was the right size (with removable feet) . . . and then when I went to buy it during the summer of '08 they'd discontinued the entire line and I'd missed out. I'm still regretting that sofa--it was awesome. I mean, seriously, doesn't it LOOK like it should be draped in fitted plastic and come accessorized with the Cleavers eating 1950s TV dinners??
Anywho, just got word that I'm getting a nice refund this year (I owe my tax-chic TWO lobster dinners) and so the hunt for a sofa is on again. Thankfully manufacturers are starting to clue in to the need for smaller apartment-sized furnishing and I found a variety of stuff right away on one website!!!
Naturally, my first, second, and third choices aren't narrow enough for the nook it's got to fit into or didn't have removable legs to squeeze through that wicked-narrow stairwell opening, but I think this might work for me. Swatches are on the way!
Also, it gives me an excuse to go furniture shopping this weekend to find the perfect cheap-yet-funky side-chairs in need of some love and reupholstery.
