Ripped From Today's Headlines?

Here's a 1999 petition report from the NRDC to the FDA that touches on bacteria and chemical contamination in bottled water:
Bottled Water Pure Drink or Pure Hype?

And this article came from the FDA in 2002:
Bottled Water: Better Than the Tap?

Being surprised that bottled water has contaminants in it is a bit like being surprised that plastic (a petroleum product) leaches industrial compounds into liquids stored over long periods of time or that air is full of 'stuff' you breath in, like fungus spores, bacteria, and scented intestinal by-products produced in the guts of the guy you were unfortunate enough to share an elevator ride with this morning.

Water is water--unless it's made in a lab under sterile conditions, there's always more in it than just hydrogen and oxygen. You have to ask, then, what is the media defining as 'contaminant' . . . and are you willing to accept what is 'acceptable' contamination vs. health hazards if you ask?

Life is dirty, and our bodies are built for it. Don't even get me started about the correlation between the rise of auto-immune disorders and anti-bacterial products . . .
